The flameproof motor is encased in a robust flameproof enclosure, and employs an air gap rotating magnetic field to interact with the induced current in the rotor winding, producing powerful electromagnetic torque. The casing is designed not only to withstand the explosive pressure generated by any detonations within an explosive gas mixture but also to prevent the explosive products from escaping through the explosion-proof gap, thereby avoiding ignition of the explosive mixture surrounding the motor casing.
1. The structural integrity of the flameproof enclosure is paramount in withstanding explosion pressures from within. Due to operational and transportation conditions, the shell material of mine flameproof motors must meet stringent requirements, with cast steel or welded steel plates being mandated. However, hand-held electric tools like coal electric drills are permitted to use aluminum alloy casings with a magnesium content of less than 0.5%.
2. The flameproof joint surface, which transmits explosion pressure and flame to the motor's exterior, must adhere to specific standards. These surfaces, where parts of the flameproof enclosure meet, have regulated minimum effective lengths, maximum clearances, and surface roughness levels based on the motor's operating environment. Typically, these joint surfaces in flameproof motors include: between the casing and the front/rear end covers, between the end cover and bearing inner cover, at the bearing inner cover's shaft hole and shaft, at the junction box seat and cover, and between the junction box seat and casing, among others.
3. The flameproof joint surface between the motor shaft and the shaft hole should remain friction-free under normal operating conditions.
